This Privacy Policy explains how Shado Team ("Shado", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you use the Shado mobile application and related services (the "App" or "Service").

Shado is intended for users aged 17 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 17.

1) Summary of What We Collect

A. Information you provide (Account & Support)

  • Name
  • Username
  • Email address
  • Customer support communications and attachments you choose to share

B. Information collected automatically (Device & Usage)

  • Device information (e.g., device model, OS version, app version, language, time zone)
  • Usage statistics (e.g., feature usage and in-app interactions)
  • Crash logs and diagnostic information

C. Location information (only with your permission)

  • Precise or approximate location, depending on what you enable in device settings

We do not use the App to perform facial recognition or infer biometric identifiers. If you upload photos that include faces, we treat them as regular images for plant analysis only.

2) Photos, Text, and AI Plant Analysis

Shado lets you upload photos (and, where available, text you enter) so our AI can analyze plant images, identify plant species, and provide insights and care guidance.

Important AI Processing Commitments

  • Your uploads for AI analysis are processed on servers controlled by Shado (our own servers).
  • We do not share uploaded photos or text used for AI analysis with any third party.
  • We do not use AI-analysis uploads for advertising or marketing.
  • We do not use AI-analysis uploads to train third-party models.
  • After analysis is completed, the uploaded photo/text is deleted from our servers promptly (typically immediately after processing, and in all cases as soon as practicable).
  • You control whether to upload content and whether to generate AI results.

Local Storage by Default

  • Photos you keep in the App (such as saved results or favorites, if available) are stored locally on your device by default, unless you choose to upload content for analysis.

3) How We Use Information

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the Service (including AI plant analysis and displaying results)
  • Personalize your experience and remember preferences
  • Improve the App, features, and performance (including debugging and crash analysis)
  • Provide security, prevent abuse, and protect our users and Service
  • Respond to customer support requests and communicate with you
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our rights

We do not sell your personal information.

4) Cookies, Similar Technologies, and Web Beacons

If the Service includes web-based components (for example, a sign-in page or embedded web views), we may use cookies and similar technologies (which may include web beacons) to keep you signed in, store preferences, and support basic analytics and security.

You can typically control cookies through device or browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect features.

5) How We Share Information

We disclose information only as needed and in the following circumstances:

A. With your consent

We may share information when you direct us to do so.

B. With service providers (processors)

We may share limited information with trusted vendors that help us operate the Service (e.g., infrastructure hosting, customer support tooling, or security services). They may process information only on our instructions and must protect it.

AI-analysis uploads (photos/text) are processed on Shado-controlled servers and are not shared with third parties.

C. For legal reasons

We may disclose information as necessary to comply with law, legal process, or lawful requests.

D. To protect rights and safety

We may disclose information to enforce our terms, prevent fraud or abuse, or protect the rights, property, or safety of users, Shado, or others.

We apply a minimum-necessary approach to sharing whenever possible.

6) International Data Transfers

Your information may be processed in countries other than where you live. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) or equivalent mechanisms.

7) Security

  • Encryption in transit and at rest where appropriate
  • Access controls and least-privilege practices
  • Periodic security reviews and audits
  • Backups and resilience measures

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your information.

8) Data Retention

  • Account data: retained while your account is active
  • Account deletion: delete or anonymize associated personal information within 30 days (unless legally required to keep longer)
  • Usage statistics: up to 12 months
  • Customer support communications: up to 6 months

AI uploads (photos/text submitted for analysis) are deleted from our servers promptly after processing.

9) Your Privacy Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict processing, or withdraw consent.

Location Controls

You can enable/disable location access at any time in your device settings.

10) Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. If changes are material, we may provide additional notice within the App.

11) Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of Shado Team's principal place of business, excluding conflict-of-law rules. Disputes relating to this Privacy Policy will be resolved through binding arbitration, except where prohibited by law.
